ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION ON “CAPACITY BUILDING OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT”

The roundtable was attended by representatives of OSCE, ZELS, municipalities, NGOs … and the Commission for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information Katerina Dimeska, member of the Commission, Cvetan  Stanoeski, councillor in the Secretariat of the Commission, Makfirete Morina collaborator in the Secretariat of the Commission.
   The purpose of the round table encompassed the training in local government organized by the OSCE in 2011, the achieved results and conclusions made about them.
   The round table was divided into two sessions, the first session was about: H.E. Ralph Brett, Head of the OSCE mission in Skopje, Mr.Nevzat Bejta, Minister for Local Self-government, Mr.YahiaYahia, Secretary of State for Information Society and Administration, Mr.Koce Trajanovski, President ZELS on topics:The process of decentralization and capacity building in local government;Perspectives of Government for functioning of national institution for training of local self-government, and Achievements and challenges of ZELS in capacity building of local authorities.
   The second session the roundtable developed the following topics: “Report of the OSCE Mission to Skopje to assess the impact of the training for 2011,” “training activities of ZELS”, “The opinions of elected officials to build the capacities of members of municipal councils “,” Involvement of civil sector in the work of local self-government “and discuss them.
   Representatives of the Commission engaged in discussion on future activities to build capacity in local government debate on the Report of the OSCE to assess the impact of training, training activities of ZELS, the views of elected officials to build the capacities of members of municipal councils and involvement of civil society in the work of local government.They emphasized the role of the Commission in organizing and maintaining 4 workshops (May-June 2012, together with the OSCE) that included over 80 representatives of local authorities from 27 municipalities in Macedonia, expressing satisfaction with the achievements of the same.Three sided  (Commission + OSCE + local government) is beside the pleasure of ever conducted training (workshops) and expressing interest in organizing new workshops that will cover other municipalities in Macedonia, i.e. the continuation of cooperation in joint projects of the Commission, OSCE, with possibility of joining also ZELS.
