Starting from today in the regional municipal centers in Bitola, Stip and Skopje, 3 educative meetings with journalists from the electronic media will take place, titled “Free Access to Public Information and Protection of the Personal Data”. The training will be realized by representatives of the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information and the Directorate for Personal Data Protection. The planned topics for discussion are personal informing of the journalists about the possibilities and the ways for faster and simpler obtaining of the information, as well as the experiences from the application of the Law on Free Access to Public Information in relation with the media and the journalists in Macedonia.
One of the main targets of these educative meetings is to provide media support in the campaign for rising of the awareness and education of the citizens about their legal right to free access to public information.
The planned educative meetings with the journalists are in a way an addition to the 50 trainings of official persons, as part of the project “Technical Assistance and Rising of the Awareness for the Support of the Application of the Law on Free Access to Public Information” in RM, carried out by the Commission in cooperation with the Macedonian Institute for Media, with the financial support of the Embassy of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Republic of Macedonia.
