From 7 to 10 October, 2008, in the Hotel “Riviera” in Ohrid, trainings for two groups of official persons for mediating public information from the municipalities Ohrid and Struga will take place. After these trainings, a realization of 15 more trainings from the regional centers Tetovo, Gostivar, Kicevo, Bitola, Prilep, Veles, Kavadarci, Gevgelija, Strumica, Delcevo, Stip, Kumanovo and Debar. The practice training sessions will encompass the official persons from the smaller municipalities in the area of the mentioned regional centers.
The trainings are part of the activities from the project “Technical Assistance and Rising of the Awareness for the Support of the Application of the Law on Free Access to Public Information” in RM, realized with the financial support of the Embassy of Great Britain, approved by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. Implementers of the projects are the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information and the Macedonian Institute for Media.
This project plans holding of 50 trainings for educating about 1000 official persons appointed for implementation of the Law on Free Access to Public Information. Until the beginning of the summer holidays, the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information held trainings for 20 groups of official persons from Skopje.
The realization of the trainings is expected to contribute to a more transparent and more responsible governing in Macedonia, as well as to a more professional communication with the media and the public in the process of euro-integration of the Republic of Macedonia.
