The President of the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, Janko Nikolovski, took active part in the work of the Third European Conference of Commissioners of Free Access to Public Information, held on September 29, 2008 in Brdo near Kranj, Republic of Slovenia.
The host of this important international event was the Commissioner for Free Access of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc – Musar, and the Slovenian President Danilo Türk made an address at the Conference.
The participants made useful exchange of opinions in their experience, pointing out to the importance of prompt implementation of the right to free access to public information.
The Commissioners, the Ombudsmen and the Presidents of the Commissions for Free Access to Public Information had their 10 minute Power Point presentations that contained overviews of the situation of the free access to public information in their countries.
The President of the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, Janko Nikolovski, made his presentation “Elimination of the Obstacles, Limitation of the Exceptions, Role of the Non-governmental Sector and the Need for Trainings and Education”.
A big accent was placed on the Convention for Access to Official Documents, which is soon to be adopted by the Council of Europe.
