The Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, starting from October 7 to December 5 this year, in accordance to the planned activities, realized 14 regional trainings in the country. 250 official persons took part at the two day education trainings in Ohrid, Struga, Strumica, Kicevo, Gevgelija, Kavadarci, Bitola, Prilep, Kocani, Stip, Gostivar, Tetovo, Veles and Kumanovo. Persons in charge of implementing of the Law on Free Access to Public Information from the institutions from the smaller municipalities near these regions also participated at the trainings.
The trainings are part of the activities from the project “Technical Assistance and Rising of the Awareness for the Support of the Application of the Law on Free Access to Public Information” in RM, realized with the financial support of the Embassy of Great Britain, approved by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.
Out of the 50 planned trainings for educating about 1000 official persons appointed for implementation of the Law on Free Access to Public Information, 34 are already held. Until the end of 2008, the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information plans to hold two day trainings for 4 more groups of official persons from the public information holder companies from Skopje.
Implementers of the projects are the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information and the Macedonian Institute for Media.
The realization of the trainings is expected to contribute to a more transparent and more responsible governing in Macedonia, as well as to a more professional communication with the media and the public in the process of euro-integration of the Republic of Macedonia.
