In 2007 year, a total of 1476 requests for access to public information were submitted to the Commission for Free Access to Public Information. 1330 of the requests were answered by the information holders and 146 were either not answered (“silence of the administration”) or were informed about the grounds on which the requests were denied.
The state institutions, i.e. the Ministries, the Secretary General of the Government, the Office of the President of the Government of RM and the City of Skopje were of greatest interest to the citizens. Out of all 1476 requests, almost a half – 701 – were addressed to these institutions.
The submitted requests were mostly about information that concerned: the process of denationalization, agreements for sale or transformation of certain and public enterprises, Governments decisions about founding of commissions, use of the public budget funds, conditions and criteria for obtaining social help, terms and conditions for construction building, the environment etc.
The citizens requested the documents mostly in a form of photocopy.
