The Director of the Directorate for personal data protection, Mr. Dimitar Gjeorgjievski and the President of the Commission for protection of the right to free access to public information, Mr. Pece Tashevski, today jointly signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which emphasizes a mutual commitment for achieving legally defined responsibilities and achieving equable protection of the right to protection of personal data and the right to free access to public information in Republic of Macedonia.
Upcoming activities will be aimed towards changing the general impression that the right to protect personal data and the right to free access to public information are set against each other and underlining the tendency to establish a balance between these two rights.
Confirming the common interest and commitment for strengthening the awareness of the right to protect personal data and the right to free access to public information, and at the same time taking into account the exceptions of The Law on free access, especially in the part of personal data protection, both institutions in the future will undertake joint activities.
